Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang (The Stories of Grandma Basyang) is a compilation of stories written by Severino Reyes under the pen name "Lola Basyang". There were about 500 stories written and its themes center on silly kings, brave adventurers, kind peasants, strange people, places and treasures. All of which contained moral lessons that the readers could ponder on. It was translated into komiks, radio shows, movies, theatre plays and even on television. In fact, Lola Basyang has become a legend and a Filipino icon synonymous with storytelling.
Lola Basyang stories were published in Liwayway Magazine were in prose. In 1949, Binoy (Severino Reyes' pet name)'s son, Pedrito Reyes, decided to revive the "Lola Basyang" stories. During that time, komiks was in its golden age in the Philippines, thus, working on the original scripts of his father, Pedrito transformed Lola Basyang's stories into komiks form, appearing in the earliest isuues of the Tagalog Klasiks. The illustrations were done by Maning De Leon, Jesus Ramos, and later on Ruben Yandoc and Jess Jodloman.
In 1997, Tahanan Books has gathered together a literary dream team to produce a landmark collection of twelve Lola Basyang tales. Poet and literary critic Bienvenido Lumbera sifted through hundred of manuscripts to select the best of Reyes' tales. Acclaimed author and publisher Gilda Cordero-Fernando delivered the original English translation and renowned children's book illustrator Albert Gamos rendered over 30 unforgettable illustrations. The result, the Gintong Aklat Award Winner for Children's Literature and National Book Award for Best Anthology recipient "The Best of Lola Basyang by Severino Reyes".

Kato (The Green Hornet)
Kato is a fictional character from The Green Hornet radio program. This character has also appeared with the Green Hornet in film, television, book and comic book versions. Kato was the Hornet's sidekick and has been played by a number of actors. On radio, Kato was initially played by Raymond Hayashi, then Roland Parker who had the role for most of the run, and in the later years Mickey Tolan. Keye Luke took the role in the movie serials, and in the television series it was handled by Bruce Lee.
Many consider Bruce Lee's portrayal of the character the chief reason why The Green Hornet is still considered a viable property. To that end, proposed feature film adaptations typically make the casting of some major martial arts film star as Kato the top priority for such a project. Jason Scott Lee, who portrayed Bruce in a 1993 biographical film, and Jet Li have been announced as set to play him in proposed but abandoned films.
A 1994 Hong Kong film, Qing feng xia, starred Kar Lok Chin as a Kato-like masked hero called the Green Hornet (in English subtitles). In one scene, he is reminded of his predecessors, one of whom is represented by a picture of Bruce Lee in his TV Kato costume.
In the Black Mask action film series, the title character typically strongly resembles Kato in costume.
The theme song of The Green Hornet was featured in Kill Bill Vol. 1, while the Crazy 88, O-Ren Ishii's personal army, wore black Kato masks.
American actor Brian "Kato" Kaelin was nicknamed for Bruce Lee's character.
The character Cato Fong in the Pink Panther series of films was based on the Green Hornet Kato character.

Talim
Talim (タリム, Tarimu?) (meaning edge or sharp in Tagalog) is a fictional female character designed for the Soul series of fighting games as the first Filipina character in any game of this genre. As such many of her moves have names using words from Tagalog.
Talim made her first appearance in Soulcalibur II, introduced as a pacifist priestess seeking to destroy or seal Soul Edge for the sake of peace. She returns for Soulcalibur III, teaming up with Hong Yun-seong during her travels, even though they both disagree regarding their objectives, as Yun-seong seeks to possess Soul Edge.
Her necklace references Pac-Man, another famous Namco game.
A young man paid them a visit about the time that she had grown accustomed to life in the watermill. He was a cheerful young man who carried a long sword and went by the name of Hong Yun-seong. He announced that he was searching for clues regarding Soul Edge. Upon hearing this, Talim warned him about the dangers of the sword. At first, the young man made Talim apprehensive, but she felt no evil from the young man and eventually came to accept him as he chose to stay in the watermill.
When the ritual ended, not a single remnant of evil energy was left in either of their bodies. In the instant that Talim had opened the boundaries of her heart, something had exorcised the evil energy.
After watching over the boy to make sure he had recovered, Talim set out on a new journey, with the children's many thanks echoing in her ears. Something waited for her to the west.

Captain Barbell
Captain Barbell is a speculative fiction drama based on a character of the same name created by Mars Ravelo. It is formerly being aired on Philippine television by GMA Network during weeknights on its primetime block. The series premiered on May 29, 2006, and last aired on January 12, 2007.
Richard Gutierrez plays the superhero, Captain Barbell and his alter ego, Teng. His archnemesis Viel Villian, is played by Richard Gomez.
Captain Barbell first appeared in the series finale of Darna. He wore the usual hero's spandex costume with the big CB logo on his chest. However, neither the actor's face was shown nor he was credited, since the producers hasn't decided yet who will take the role. It was intentionally done to drum beat the promotions for the upcoming series.
Captain Barbell/Arell/Potenciano Magtanggol aka Teng - was catapulted from the 22nd century to the present time. He was found by an elderly couple, who renamed him Teng and adopted him as their grandson. Even from youth, he exhibited remarkable physical prowess but it was not until he found the mystical golden medallion-barbell plate that he obtained the ability to transform into Captain Barbell. This barbell has properties beyond transforming Teng, it also gives him his strength when not in Captain Barbell form. The abilities that the element endows Teng seems to be limited to only enhanced physical athletism along with flight and enhanced perception, making him less versatile than Darna who happens to wield several psychic powers at her arsenal Captain Barbell/Arell/Teng is played by Richard Gutierrez.
